NIS UK Passport Intervention Begins This September as Nigerians Get Access in Four Cities
Findings by our platform show it is a real mobile exercise with fixed cities, dates and strict online-first rules.
As it stands right now, the Nigeria Immigration Service is running a Passport Intervention Team in four UK cities between 7 and 26 September 2026. The directive came from Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo after talks with the High Commission and diaspora groups.
London and Manchester Dates Are Already Set
London and Manchester run 7 to 19 September. London venue: Layali Lounge, Trent Park, Bramley Road, London N14 4UW. Manchester venue: Nigerian House, 23 Platt Lane, Manchester M14 5NE.
Aberdeen and Cardiff run 21 to 26 September. Aberdeen: Hilton Convention Centre, 13 Smithfield Road, Aberdeen AB24 4NR. Cardiff: Sophia Gardens, Sophia Walk, Cardiff CF11 9XR.
The service is for new passports, renewals and stuck applications. Surrounding areas can also use the centres.
The plain truth is you cannot treat it like a walk-in market. Apply and pay on passport.immigration.gov.ng before you go. Carry the completed form, payment slip, appointment slip and a self-addressed return envelope. Renewals need the old book. Cash at the door will not be taken. Period.
To be fair, the backlog pain in the diaspora is real. That is why the team was deployed. Excitement still does not cancel the portal step.
What Applicants Need to Know Before Going
The online application is therefore an important part of the process. Applicants who arrive without completing the required steps may not be able to receive the service simply because the intervention team is physically present at the venue.
Make we be clear about the process. NIS spokesman DCI Akinsola Akinlabi put the schedule in a public notice dated 31 August 2026. Unregistered arrivals and POS uncles at the gate are outside the rules. Capital NO to any “priority slot” sold on WhatsApp for the same venues.
Do the portal first. Then show up with your slips. That is the whole working method for this intervention.
The exercise could provide some relief for Nigerians who have struggled with passport delays in the UK, particularly those who have been waiting for renewals or have applications that have stalled. But applicants still need to follow the procedure rather than relying on unofficial arrangements.
With the dates already fixed across the four cities, anyone planning to use the intervention should prepare their documents early and make sure their online application and payment have been completed before travelling to the venue.
