Maya Rogers, daughter of Henk Rogers, is now at the forefront of the modern management of the Tetris trademark.
Ms. Rogers, in her capacity as an executive director at The Tetris Company and other organizations, is currently involved in the development of licensing strategies, as well as adapting and protecting the brand in a competitive marketplace.
Having grown up around her father’s work, she was familiar with the intricacies of the design and the necessary steps to ensure high quality of every licensed product.
Under her father’s guidance, the company has now seen the evolution of the game into esports-friendly competitions, graphically rich console ports, such as Tetris Effect, and other projects that have helped to engage new audiences.
Preserving the Legacy
Ms. Rogers has done an exemplary job of maintaining the integrity of the Tetris brand.
She has prioritized accessibility and simplicity, as the original design was intended, while still allowing for innovation and variety.
Ms. Rogers has been able to successfully negotiate between the needs of traditional licensees and new companies that want to experiment with the format.
Moreover, she has overseen a seamless transition from her father as the chief executive officer of The Tetris Company to the next generation of leadership.
Now, as the game approaches its 40th anniversary since its commercial launch, Ms. Rogers is yet another link in the chain of those responsible for the legacy created by her father and Mr. Pajitnov.
In her work, she has demonstrated a deep understanding of the value of the product designed in the Soviet computer research institute many decades earlier, as well as the responsibility she bears in regard to its continued success and profitability.
