Patrick Collison: Stripe Founder, Net Worth, Age and Investments

Patrick Collison is 37 and has built much of his fortune from Stripe, the payments company he co-founded with his brother John in 2010. The brothers launched Stripe after selling an earlier startup, eventually turning the company into one of the most valuable private fintech firms in the world.

Forbes and Hurun both list each brother’s net worth near $13 billion in 2026, driven almost entirely by their Stripe equity.

Patrick serves as CEO and has steered the company through multiple funding rounds that valued it well above $50 billion at its peak.

Outside Stripe, the brothers have invested in scientific research, climate tech and Irish education projects through their family office.

They remain based in the United States while keeping strong ties to Ireland.

Stripe’s continued expansion into new markets and banking infrastructure keeps the valuation  and their personal fortunes, highly sensitive to private-market pricing.

For Collison, however, Stripe remains the centre of both his business career and his wealth. The company’s continued push into global payments and financial infrastructure means changes in its private valuation can have a major effect on the fortune attached to his stake.
