Southeast Asian AI Startups Raise $4.1 Billion in 2026 as Kling AI Leads With $2.8 Billion Round

Southeast Asian AI startups have raised a combined $4.1 billion in funding during 2026, according to the information provided. However, the headline figure is heavily influenced by one exceptionally large deal: Kling AI’s $2.8 billion Series D round for its generative video and foundation model platform.

Excluding Kling AI’s funding round, AI companies across the region raised closer to $1.3 billion during the year, showing how much the single transaction has influenced the overall funding figure.

Singapore Remains a Major AI Startup Hub

The increase in AI investment comes as Singapore continues to strengthen its position as one of Southeast Asia’s major startup ecosystems.

According to the information provided, Singapore’s startup ecosystem grew 24.4 percent between April 2025 and April 2026.

Fintech, enterprise AI, deeptech, foodtech and healthtech have been among the strongest-performing sectors, with several funded AI startups operating from Singapore while maintaining business activities across multiple countries.

Companies including MiniMax, Bifrost and Aethir have appeared among funded technology businesses with operations spanning different jurisdictions in the region.

The concentration of startups and investors in Singapore has helped the country serve as an important base for companies looking to access Southeast Asian markets.

Google Cloud Builds Southeast Asia AI Corridor

Google Cloud has also announced an AI Startup Innovation Corridor connecting Southeast Asia with Silicon Valley.

The initiative was established in partnership with Enterprise Singapore, Indonesia’s Komdigi, Vietnam’s National Innovation Center and Ho Chi Minh City’s Startup and Innovation Hub.

The accelerator programme is designed to support Seed-to-Series-B agentic AI startups from six countries.

Participating startups are expected to have access to equity-free technical residencies in Mountain View, California, and Singapore, giving early-stage companies opportunities to develop their technology and connect with broader international ecosystems.

The initiative follows a longer series of Google Cloud programmes supporting AI and technology startups.

According to the information provided, those initiatives have helped more than 200 startups raise a combined $6.6 billion since 2018.

AI Funding Expands Across the Region

The $4.1 billion raised by Southeast Asian AI startups during 2026 demonstrates the scale of investor interest in artificial intelligence across the region, although Kling AI’s $2.8 billion round accounts for a substantial portion of the total.

The remaining funding still represents a significant amount of capital flowing into AI businesses, particularly in enterprise software, generative AI, deep technology and other emerging areas.

As Singapore and other technology hubs across Southeast Asia continue building AI infrastructure, accelerator programmes and international partnerships, the region is becoming an increasingly active market for AI startup development and investment.
