Bhadreshkumar Patel Biography: Maryland Murder Fugitive Still Wanted
Findings by our platform reveal that Bhadreshkumar Chetanbhai Patel was born May 15, 1990, in Viramgam, Gujarat, India.
He came to the United States with his young wife Palak, both of them holding temporary visas and working night shifts at a Dunkin’ Donuts on Arundel Mills Boulevard in Hanover, Maryland. The shop belonged to a relative.
To be fair, the couple’s marriage was already under strain. Palak, only twenty-one, wanted to go back to India after their visas expired. Patel wanted to stay.
On the night of April 12, 2015, just before midnight, while customers were still in the front of the store, investigators say he took her into a back room and attacked her. She was beaten and stabbed multiple times with a large kitchen knife. Her body was found later that night.
Patel’s Disappearance After the Killing
He walked out the rear door, crossed the street to their apartment, grabbed some cash and a few belongings, then took a taxi to a hotel near Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey.
He checked in around 3 a.m. with no luggage, checked out the next morning, and was last seen at Newark Penn Station on April 13, 2015. That is the end of the confirmed trail.
A local arrest warrant for first-degree murder, second-degree murder, assault, and use of a dangerous weapon was issued the day after the killing. Federal charges for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution followed.
On April 18, 2017, the FBI placed him on the Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list as the 514th person ever named.
The reward has climbed over the years and now stands at one million dollars for information that leads to his arrest.
Patel is described as about 5 feet 9 inches tall, around 165 pounds, with brown hair and eyes. He has known connections in India, Canada, and several U.S. states including New Jersey, Georgia, Illinois, and Kentucky.
Authorities consider him armed and extremely dangerous. As it stands right now, more than a decade later, he has never been located.
